Kia ora! In this video, I’m gonna be trying to learn a new physical skill which is Staff Spinning. If you don’t know what that is, it’s like Samoan Fire Knife Dancing but no fair and a longer stick. Anyways, you’ll see how far it will take me to staff spin like a pro or at least spin fast.
Also, everyone had to finish this inquiry quickly. And I didn’t had to time to reflect yet, so I’ll just write it down here:
New Day! : I noticed how my staff keeps hitting around the desks or my legs as well, it was because of my not-so-safe surroundings! So I had to either go outside or on the street of Team 5. Even the staff’s tip keeps getting stuck on my jacket’s pocket, which is why I took off my school jacket and I continue my staff spinning in a wider (and safer) place to practise.
Day 2 : I was just practising, and I slowly noticed how I am getting better of spinning my staff. But there was one thing that was challenging, it was my shoulder. It’s really sore every time I keep spinning faster, so I needed to train my shoulder too. I
Day 3 : Obviously, I hit my leg from my staff! Therefore, I decided to search up how to staff spin:
- Hold the staff in the middle with one hand, keeping your grip loose but firm.
- Move your wrist in a small circle, like you’re drawing a tiny circle in the air with the staff.
- Let the staff turn around your hand. As it spins, gently open your fingers and let the staff roll over your thumb, then close your hand to catch it again.
- Keep practicing! The more you spin, the smoother it will get.
Day 4 : This was definitely the moment where I actually spin really fast and do it in a strong long period of time! Although, I wish my other classmates would stop getting in the way because I had to edit them off =_=
