Sound Presentation Project – DLO

Kia ora! Yesterday was the day that me and my partner, Neomi, would present our SOUND presentation to Room 1. At first, we planned to do it on Thursday but Neomi insist on doing it right now on Tuesday. Now, it sounded insane to me but I eventually agree.

It’s not only us, our whole class is doing a presentation about sound. What sound is, how it works, and how human hear sound. You’ll hear all that in OUR presentation too, it’s really formal yet COLOURFUL and FUN!!

Because in our presentation is a quiz made by me, so if you want you can try and answer them by commenting down below. Be honest if you were listening or at least have the knowledge.

MARK: 24/24

Give it Heaps DLO

Kia ora! In this video, I’m gonna be trying to learn a new physical skill which is Staff Spinning. If you don’t know what that is, it’s like Samoan Fire Knife Dancing but no fair and a longer stick. Anyways, you’ll see how far it will take me to staff spin like a pro or at least spin fast.

Also, everyone had to finish this inquiry quickly. And I didn’t had to time to reflect yet, so I’ll just write it down here:

New Day! : I noticed how my staff keeps hitting around the desks or my legs as well, it was because of my not-so-safe surroundings! So I had to either go outside or on the street of Team 5. Even the staff’s tip keeps getting stuck on my jacket’s pocket, which is why I took off my school jacket and I continue my staff spinning in a wider (and safer) place to practise.

Day 2 : I was just practising, and I slowly noticed how I am getting better of spinning my staff. But there was one thing that was challenging, it was my shoulder. It’s really sore every time I keep spinning faster, so I needed to train my shoulder too. I

Day 3 :  Obviously, I hit my leg from my staff! Therefore, I decided to search up how to staff spin:

  • Hold the staff in the middle with one hand, keeping your grip loose but firm.
  • Move your wrist in a small circle, like you’re drawing a tiny circle in the air with the staff.
  • Let the staff turn around your hand. As it spins, gently open your fingers and let the staff roll over your thumb, then close your hand to catch it again.
  • Keep practicing! The more you spin, the smoother it will get.

Day 4 : This was definitely the moment where I actually spin really fast and do it in a strong long period of time! Although, I wish my other classmates would stop getting in the way because I had to edit them off =_=

Equal Rights to Who? – Hilarious Skit for Inquiry

Kia ora! Here is a funny video about a hilarious skit of Boys verses Girls. In this skit, you will see my group who is Bonnie, Baylee, Mele, Prodeus and myself. The skit that we’re doing is called ‘Equal Rights to Who’ which was actually made by me, I wanted my group to experience how Year 8’s can make their own script without an adult helping.

As for our costumes, Prodeus is wearing a white T-shirt, then Bonnie wearing a dark blue letterman jacket and me just wearing a literal red jumper on my head to be as my BLONDE hair. Also my group managed to memorise their script, practise their expressions and actions.

One of my group member, Mele, thinks I’m the captain because of how I direct or leave helpful comments when they practise but I’m not the captain tho. Bonnie is, so I consider myself a co-captain??

Anyways, I hope you enjoy this hilarious skit about individual genders thinking they should have equal rights but soon Miss Riley will stop it! How about your opinion? Who actually deserves equal rights? And why? How would you stop this stupid situation if you were Miss Riley?

My DLO – How my family came to NZ and more!

Kia ora! This week I have finally finish my DLO, which is a Google Slide Animation. This one is way easier than animating on PhotoPea. Anyways this video is about how my family came to NZ and more, also I do hope this is enough for it to get mark because it’s gonna go on my record when I go to College.

My DLO will show you all about my family, the year of birth, my country and probably some old pictures. Just wish me luck for this DLO, I tried to understand what to do with this since I haven’t started when I was in Apia for a while.

Please leave a positive comment ^^

Fish N Chips – Make it Work Project

Kia ora! This is a DLO video about our Make it Work Project, which is a new shelf for room 1. We first start with our intro, then our prototype, real project and last but not least! The final piece. In case you don’t know, Make it Work is a main theme for inquiry. All Team 5 must create a project that will help around our Team or school.

Our project is a new clean, fresh shelf for our class, room 1. We had to do our prototype first, because our teacher (Mr Moran) has to see if we are able to create our shelf and how it would basically look like. Firstly, we got cardboard, scissors, lots of tape and cutting. In our video, you’ll see Ema and Sapphire cutting the cardboard with scissors.

Then you’ll see us measuring our prototype, after all. We want it to be the perfect size and height (We didn’t even know how to tell the numbers in the measuring tape, so Tyson helped us). When we have finished measuring, we start building it. Taping the bottom and the top, sides and corners. Now we showed it to Mr Moran, he agreed that we are ready to build our REAL PROJECT. Watch this video if you want to see us quickly build our new shelf!! Please do enjoy it.

Weight affects the body

This week we are learning about “obesity”, me and my class had to do this slide. There is 3 slides, the 2nd slide is a video about “Why is Bodyweight Important?”, we all watched it as a class. Then the other 2 slides were questions about what obese means? how does it affect a person’s physical health? and what we need to do to maintain a healthy weight!

Mentos and Diet Coke eruption

Today Room 1 and 5 did a science experiment together. We put 4 mentos pieces into the bottle of diet coke. As the mentos candy sinks in the bottle, the candy causes the production of more and more carbon dioxide bubbles, and the rising bubbles react with carbon dioxide. The diet coke erupted like a volcano.
