Shapes and Patterns Quest – SLJ #29

This Kick Start activity is all about looking for shapes and patterns, so I decided to think outside the box. Since my backyard isn’t exactly safe at the moment, I chose to use images from the internet instead. To be honest, I found this a bit challenging.

I think the hardest one was finding something that shows rotational symmetry (where it looks the same when you turn it), but I eventually figured it out in the end.

Each slide features something you might find in nature. What shapes or patterns have you discovered in the natural world? Maybe you’ve noticed them while going on a road trip or exploring the outdoors!

Problem Solving lV2

Fakaalofa Lahi Atu! This week for maths is learning how to solve word problems, we all know that word problems can be hard but it’s trying to confuse you. In slide one, you can see how I read the problem carefully and closely. That’s because I’m only looking for the keywords in this problem.
For example, Mr Wiseman spends $6 a day which means: One day = $6. Now for 7 days, we just need to multiply 7 to 6 because he spends $6 for a V drink.

Anyways, this task only has four slides and I hope you understand my solution to each word problem. Also, if you have a different way to solve it then feel free to leave a comment!

🎉Happy Niuean Language Week!🎉

Spring Learning Journey – Fifth Activity

Kia ora! Fifth Activity over here, this one is about creating maths problems for you. But spring-themed ones.

This actually took awhile to create since I’ve been brainstorming some creative maths problems, this Google Slides goes from easy to harder. Though, I think you can finish this easily if you time yourself.

Enjoy timing yourself and going through the maths problems.

Please leave a positive comment and happy holidays! (´。•᎑•`)っ🎉

Units of Measurement – Length

Kia orana! This week I am learning about measurements, where I learn how to accurately measure length and convert between units. As I went through the Google Slides, I learnt that a pencil isn’t measured in millimetres (smallest unit) it is measured in centimetres (second smallest unit).

Though, there was something that was challenging and that is converting some of these measurements by division! I even need to work it out on paper to be honest. But that is just part of learning anyways 🙂

Time for Time! – T3 W1

Kia ora! This week I have finally finish off one of my maths task from Week 1 Term 3, I always have trouble telling the time from either in a 24-hour time or a 12-hour time but Miss Hill helped me understand how to tell the time.

So on the 2nd slide, Miss Hill told me to read the parts on this slide. I know that Midday is 12pm, Midnight is 12am, 24-hour clock times begin at midnight where it goes around again and that they are ALWAYS 4 numbers!

As I go through the slides, I think the most challenging part is understanding/solving the time problems because some of them were confusing to me and even Miss Hill🤣🤣🤣

But Champions never give up, even doing school work.

Natural and Manmade Resources – Mana Ako T3 W2

Kia ora! And welcome back to my blog, you can see I haven’t been posting any work lately but I am still standing better than ever. This task is from Mana Ako, did you know that World Nature Conservation Day starts in July the 28th (just 2 days ago).

When me and the others were learning about this, Miss Tele’a wanted us all to take a quick quiz on our chromebooks. The quiz is just an online drag-and-drop picture quiz where we need to figure out what is natural resources (materials from the Earth) and manmade resources (Resources made by humans using natural resources).

I got to be honest, this was a little bit changeling for me as I have celebrated World Nature Conservation Day before or even learnt about these natural/mamade resources back then but it’s a good thing that Mr C and Miss Tele’a taught all of us who don’t know much about these kind of things.

So if you ever need homework or learn new things, then come to Mana Ako or email Miss Tele’a about getting a permission slip for the club.

Equivalent Fractions

Kia ora! I have finally finish my Equivalent Fractions task, since I’ve been sick for like 3 days last week but now I’m catching up. Anyways, as you can see… Equivalent means the same or equal (same thing ¯\_(-_-)_/¯).

To be honest, it was hard at first but thank god one of my classmates showed me how to work it out easily. I do hope to remember everything that my classmate said when it comes to Equivalent Fractions again, and in college too!

Ordering Fractions

Kia ora! This week is Friday and Maths is my first learning subject today, as you can see it’s about fractions but ORDERING Fractions.

My class is learning how to order fractions with different denominators (the number on the bottom of a fraction) by comparing fraction size on the fraction wall. Mr Moran, my homeroom teacher with no hairline, made a little bit of mistakes just like Mr Wiseman.

On the sixth slide is about using a greater, less and equal signs. Tho it’s a good thing that on the last slide, I worked it out 🙂

Please leave a positive comment and May the 4th be with You!🌌⚔️^^

Third Activity – Autumn Learning Journey

Kia ora and Happy Holidays to all! Here is the third activity of the Autumn Learning Journey, this one is about making 4 autumn-themed maths problems.

This task is super easy for me as I am a Year 8, if you want you can try and solve these maths problem I made. If there’s any errors in the Google Slides, than just tell and I’ll try to fix it.

Please leave a positive comment and have a safe Holiday ^^

Decimal Recap

Kia ora! This week me and my maths group have been learning how to use addition and subtraction strategies to solve decimal word problems.

As you can see, some of the slides have a fraction of tenths or hundredths. Even the decimal of it too.

On the last slide are some decimals where I had to add and subtract, I did my working on paper and I know how to do this easily!
