Final SLJ. . .

Here is my SLJ Badges, and some of the outstanding posts (extra points) too that I’ve earned. I don’t know if the comments are included, but either way just click on any badge and it’ll take you to the activity I’ve done.

My favourite activity so far would be the Cartoon Collectables, I had so much fun writing facts about each of my characters (OC’s).

(wish me good luck in college)

Deep Sea Discovery Game – SLJ #26

This is the Step It Up activity for The Big Deep. It’s about creating your very own board game using information about the layers of the deep sea and its weird creatures. To start, you’ll see facts about the creatures, each represented by an emoji that matches the layer they live in!

🌞 = Sunlit Zone (Epipelagic)
🌒 = Twilight Zone (Mesopelagic)
🌑 = Midnight Zone (Bathypelagic)
🦑 = Abyssal Zone (Abyssopelagic)
🧛‍♀️ = Hadal Zone (Trenches)

I played my game with Filipo, and somehow he won! I ended up with -2 points, while Filipo scored 0, so it’s pretty clear my little brother is the champ. You can give it a go too! Just grab a dice, follow the rules, and see if you can do better.

Rules:

  1. The first player to reach the bottom (Layer 5) and escape with the most points wins!
  2. If both players land on the same layer, they must roll the dice to see who gets a higher number to avoid a bad result.
  3. Players can only move forward unless a special box sends them backward.

Totally Awesome Sea Turtles Presentation – SLJ #21

This activity is about creating a presentation not just on saving our sea turtles, but also for the future. In my Google Slides, you’ll find three key questions: HOW are sea turtles becoming endangered, WHY does it matter, and WHAT can we do about it?

Each slide includes an answer I wrote after reading this, exploring this, and watching a video. I’ve also added visual elements like GIFs and eye-catching pictures to make it engaging.

This is an important cause because saving sea turtles helps keep oceans healthy. They support ecosystems like coral reefs and seagrass beds, preserving biodiversity and a balanced environment for future generations (e.g., 2025).

Message in a Bottle Travels – SLJ #20

For the Step it Up activity of Message in a Bottle, I thought about where my message might travel to and came up with a lot of possible places. So, my message started at the breathtaking Cathedral Cove, then travelled to the historic town of Thames.

From there, it moved on to the massive city of Auckland, before heading north to the serene Bay of Islands. Finally, it ended up in Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand.

Though, just remember, this is only my opinion, and there’s a 50% chance it could have gone somewhere else! Who knows?? ✉︎

Shell-ebration Museum – SLJ #18

For the Step it Up activity of Shell-ebration, I am creating my very own digital museum. My digital museum is called “The Shelltastic Museum,” and it’s all about unique shells.

The fun part is, of course, decorating it and using gifs. But one part I found challenging was researching each shell, finding a fun fact, and where you can find it. I hope this information helps you discover these beautiful shells!

Each slide features FIVE unique shells that you can’t miss. One of my favourite shells from my museum is definitely the sixth slide. You’ll see which shell it is soon…

Palolo Paradise Feast – SLJ #15

Get ready for the Step it Up activity! This task is all about creating a menu with palolo worms as our main ingredient, but we only need to create two dishes. So here is mine: the menu is called “Palolo Paradise Feast” because it’s all about palolo worms.

The first dish is inspired by mixing palolo worms with another traditional dish—tacos. It’s basically a fusion. The second dish is inspired by the deep, serene waters of the Pacific Ocean, where the palolo worm lives. Also, the word “Delights” comes from a different activity where I created a whole fish and chip menu and named my restaurant Deep Sea Delights. You can check that out too!

As for the images, I learned from watching a few videos that palolo worms are slimy, juicy, and wriggly. So, I made sure the generated images look just like that, but with a few of my unique ingredients added too.

Hope you’re ready to order from the Palolo Paradise Feast menu! ^^

The Final of the Chippy Challenge – SLJ #9

As you go through our full menu, you’ll be greeted by the Ocean Bites section where you’ll meet a great huge wave. Next is the Combo Treasures and the Chip Crew, it’s where the section of rather expensive combos you’ll have and fries you’ll eat. Lastly there’s Drinks & Dips, where you’ll find cheap yet amazingly delicious drinks and dips perfectly suited for your fries.

My favourite part about creating a full menu is decorating it with waves, seagulls, and fishes. But the hard part about this too, was figuring out whether I should create a symbol for it or just use a title.

Anyways, hope you’re ready to order from Deep Sea Delights!!

Little Error Axolotl Mask – SLJ #7

This activity is about creating a DIGITAL mask inspired by sea creatures 🐠 using Google Draw! This time, you could choose between a swimming mask 🏊‍♀️ or a tribal mask. I chose the SWIMMING MASK for this activity! 🥽

I’ll be honest—using the line tools in Google Draw was a bit tricky 🤯, but since I’ve been using my Chromebook since Year 3, it wasn’t TOO hard! 💻 The best part? Choosing a sea creature 🐾. Mine is a super cute one… Can you guess what it is? 🤔

🎉 It’s an AXOLOTL! 🎉

🌟 Oops Alert 🚨: Here’s the funny part—I just realised an axolotl isn’t actually a sea creature! 🤦‍♂️ They’re amphibians 🐸 that live in freshwater lakes and canals around Mexico City, like Lake Xochimilco. 🌎 I know, I know—bit of a mistake there, but I’m not starting over! 😅 Hopefully, it still counts! 🤷‍♀️

Now, check out the ocean texture I used for the background 🌊✨. Isn’t it shiny and clear? Imagine wearing this swimming mask—people will definitely notice that PINK colour! 💖 You’ll stand out for sure! 🎀

🌟 Leave a positive comment below! 💬 And sorry again about the little error! 😅

Hard Origami – SLJ #4

Kia ora! Here’s the Step it Up activity for the Origami Fish. I followed a much harder tutorial, and to be honest, it was very challenging for me.

One of the reasons it was tough was probably because I didn’t have a 150cm paper—I only had A4 paper at home. As I started folding, I noticed how difficult it was for me, especially when watching the man in the video fold the origami so effortlessly. Still, I kept going! My favourite part of this activity was not giving up on an unfinished project.

!FUN FACTS!

Did you know that you can fold not just dry paper, but wet paper too? The technique of “wet-folding” was invented by Akira Yoshizawa. 😱

Origami is also a big deal in Spain! In fact, paper folding in Europe dates back to at least the 12th century! 🇪🇸

My Own Wanted Poster – SLJ #2

Kia ora! Today is another Summer Learning Journey but Step it Up activity, the other one was just a Kick Start─as in a quick practice. Anyways, for the Step it Up activity, I get to make my own wanted poster with another dangerous sea creature.

In my poster, there’s a small picture of my dangerous sea creature─The Great White Shark─with two boxes that each has an explanation for WHY is it dangerous and SAFETY tips.

HEY HEY HEY!! Do you know anything about dangerous sea creatures? I know that Great White Sharks are dangerous because of their big, sharp teeth 🦈🪥
