Hiko – T4 W6 Mana Ako

Kia ora! Today in Mana Ako, we had to create a presentation about Hiko. But some people didn’t have their chromebook, so I had to share mine with Raphael. As you go to the next slide, you will see a certain question saying: “Our NEW understanding of the Hiko”. Everyone just finished watching a video about what has been happening currently, protesters, and Maori emerging together.

But one thing caught my attention, there were kids – As in little kids! Which is why I added “Hiko is open to everyone who supports the cause, regardless of age”. If you want, you can watch the video too.

Anyways, slide three and four are quick responses to us about “would you take part”.  Additionally, if me or Raphael are more likely to join in the protesting.

Please read our presentation, it’s only five super quick Google Slides. And leave a positive comment! ^^

Papua New Guinea’s Christianity

Papua New Guinea’s Christianity + MORE

Today in Mana Ako, our main focus was Papua New Guinea but currently we are learning about their Christianity and the similarities or differences to other Pacific islands.

Let’s start with the similarities of Papua New Guinea’s Christianity with other Pacific islands, so clearly Christianity were introduced to them by Missionary! Which was largely through the efforts from European and American  denominations. Here’s another one, Papua New Guinea are also those Pacific islanders that share stories from the Bible to others – Mainly young ones.

Despite the similarities, there are also differences with Papua New Guinea still – Like singing in their own language (Tok Pisin) which is different towards the other islands. Obviously.

What three things unite the people of Papua New Guinea?

In the video that Mana Ako shown to us, I noted how they have unique and rich culture. For example, they painted their faces and body with bright colours! Including their traditional weapon if you watch the video that is linked below. Another thing that unites the people, and that I noticed is their language because communicating with others is a way of showing support.

Lastly would obviously be their love for their land! It’s because of how Papua New Guinea is a beautiful country with mountains, rain forests, and beaches – People love their homeland, and I probably would if I had a chance to visit.

Mana Ako T4 W3: Reflection

What I learnt today

Today in Mana Ako, our main focus was Labour Day. I learned many things from a short quiz that everyone had to complete. It was a bit challenging, but it helped that we watched a video first to get started. I focused on looking for keywords to highlight my answers, and for the fill-in-the-blank questions, I made sure to read carefully to see if my answers made sense.

Even so, I made some mistakes. Some of the answers I highlighted were wrong, so I had to go back and correct them. At least I’m being honest—no one is flawless when answering questions!

Anyway, have a good rest and sweet dreams of tomorrow 🐑💤

Empathy – Mana Ako

Kia ora! This week in Mana Ako, we are learning about empathy and putting yourself in to other people’s shoes. Now I’ve heard of empathy but sometimes I forget about the meaning of it, so I always make a list of mine where it has words that I don’t know or can’t remember, that way I’ll know every word I come across to.

Anyways, about empathy, there is only one slide with four pictures of different shoes and a text box that will tell you what empathy is. For the shoes, it’s a reminder of respecting other people which includes your parents, grandparents, or teachers.

So keep this has a small yet GRAND reminder of empathy 🙂

Abe Uta Research Task – Mana Ako

Mālō e lelei! In Mana Ako, our task is picking an athlete from ANY countries. Since PES Olympics is coming up, I thought why not choose my country that I’m in? Which is Japan!

Anyways, once you go to the next slide, it will explain you who Abe Uta is! Then some extra information and fun facts coming up too.

Though, one thing I found challenging is finding a moment of Abe Uta because some of the videos were in Japanese to be honest. But I do enjoy researching my about my athlete!

Ei katu Cook Island Language

Kia orana! In Mana Ako, we did fun different activities about Cook Islands. I tried making an Ei Katu as in real life, but there was so many bugs and I have a huge fear of bugs ever since last year I went to Samoa. A literal cockroach landed on top of head, it scared me to death but good thing my cousins let me sleep in a mattress with a net around it to keep it from bugs.

Anyways, I was able to do the digital art of Ei Katu which I am glad of course. You can see I choose white orchids for my digital Ei Katu, because WHITE orchids are often symbolises with purity, innocence and elegance. Then there is a greeting for you 🙂

Famous Failures – Mana Ako

Kia ora! This week at Mana Ako, we learnt about famous failures we know. Firstly, I wanted to acknowledge Sir Edmund Hillary (NZ $5 note) for being the first person to climb Mount Everest!

For some reason, he wasn’t able to climb the sixth highest mountain (Cho Oyu) in the world but was able to climb Mount Everest?! That mountain is very tall compare to Cho Oyu, yet Sir Edmund Hillary can climb it? Though, I think he just wanted to prove everyone that we all shouldn’t be giving up so easily.

Which is way I won’t give up easily as well when I’m doing my work🤣

Natural and Manmade Resources – Mana Ako T3 W2

Kia ora! And welcome back to my blog, you can see I haven’t been posting any work lately but I am still standing better than ever. This task is from Mana Ako, did you know that World Nature Conservation Day starts in July the 28th (just 2 days ago).

When me and the others were learning about this, Miss Tele’a wanted us all to take a quick quiz on our chromebooks. The quiz is just an online drag-and-drop picture quiz where we need to figure out what is natural resources (materials from the Earth) and manmade resources (Resources made by humans using natural resources).

I got to be honest, this was a little bit changeling for me as I have celebrated World Nature Conservation Day before or even learnt about these natural/mamade resources back then but it’s a good thing that Mr C and Miss Tele’a taught all of us who don’t know much about these kind of things.

So if you ever need homework or learn new things, then come to Mana Ako or email Miss Tele’a about getting a permission slip for the club.

Theme of Coco: T2 W8 Mana Ako

Kia ora! This theme is about Coco, I really love this movie as it is about how important your culture and traditions are. But most importantly, Coco also shows how you should never give up on your dream that you love or is interested in.

Anyways, I have a question for you!  What’s your culture and do you have any traditions that you MUST do?

Please leave a positive comment and have this (´。•᎑•`)っ🍪

Theme of Wish: T2 W8 Mana Ako

Kia ora! This theme is about Wish, yes the movie with very low star reviews but trust me this movie is super good. I have only picked one character known as Asha. To be honest, I really love how this movie resemble to Snow White! I don’t want to be a spoiler but it’s because the villain gets trapped in a mirror, y’know just like the Magic Mirror in Snow White.

Anyways, I hope you’ll enjoy the theme of Wish
