This Kick Start activity is about creating a pirate map with a pen and pencil, but mine is completely different! I ripped the edges of the paper, tried wetting it with a tea bag, and even poured rice on it. If you know the trend, yes, it’s that fantasy map trend.
I never had time to make one before, but here I am! My map is filled with magical and unique lands, including creatures inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender. There are only three though—sorry, Airbenders!
Anyway, the fun part was being creative and letting my imagination run wild. The challenging part was drawing a compass—something I only realised when I took a final close look at the map.

Kia ora Leata,
It’s Charlotte again, a blog commenter for the Summer Learning Journey. What a fantastic blog post! I can tell that you have put lots of work into this – well done.
What an amazing treasure map. It is awesome. It looks like a piece of art someone might have hanging up in their house! I really enjoyed reading further about each landmark and city with the information you included on the google doc – you were right I did get a bit of a fright when I scrolled all the way down! What do you think it would be like to live in this world?
I noticed that you mentioned getting a lot of your inspiration from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Is that your favourite show? What other shows do you enjoy watching?

Talofa lava, Charlotte!
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I really appreciate you taking the time to read my post and check out the treasure map. I’m glad you liked it and thought it looked like art – that means a lot to me! 😊
Living in the world of my treasure map would probably be exciting but also a bit scary with all the adventures and mysteries. I think it would be cool to explore the landmarks and discover hidden secrets.
Yes, I love Avatar: The Last Airbender! It’s definitely one of my favourite shows. The characters and the world-building are so inspiring. I also enjoy watching shows like The Legend of Korra, My Hero Academia, and Stranger Things. What about you – do you have a favourite show?
