The Start of the Chippy Challenge – SLJ #8

╭━━━━━━━☆❂☆━━━━━━━╮
💙 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 💙

╰━━━━━━━☆❂☆━━━━━━━╯

════

Here’s the Kick Start activity, but with a twist! This one’s a Chippy Challenge, where I had to create a unique fish and chip menu. 🐟🍟 I tried my best to include all the different types of fish, toppings, and sides, but I only managed to come up with three foods and three sides.

My favourite part about creating my very own fish and chip menu was using my creativity to:
🌊 Name my restaurant (Deep Sea Delights)
🌟 Think of weird yet amazing food names
💲 Choose the prices for everything

Yeah, that’s definitely one of the parts I enjoyed the most! 🎉

════

Now, just sit back and relax 🪑✨ as you feast your eyes on the most dazzling, extraordinary, and wonderfully creative menu in all of New Zealand! 🇳🇿💫

Little Error Axolotl Mask – SLJ #7

This activity is about creating a DIGITAL mask inspired by sea creatures 🐠 using Google Draw! This time, you could choose between a swimming mask 🏊‍♀️ or a tribal mask. I chose the SWIMMING MASK for this activity! 🥽

I’ll be honest—using the line tools in Google Draw was a bit tricky 🤯, but since I’ve been using my Chromebook since Year 3, it wasn’t TOO hard! 💻 The best part? Choosing a sea creature 🐾. Mine is a super cute one… Can you guess what it is? 🤔

🎉 It’s an AXOLOTL! 🎉

🌟 Oops Alert 🚨: Here’s the funny part—I just realised an axolotl isn’t actually a sea creature! 🤦‍♂️ They’re amphibians 🐸 that live in freshwater lakes and canals around Mexico City, like Lake Xochimilco. 🌎 I know, I know—bit of a mistake there, but I’m not starting over! 😅 Hopefully, it still counts! 🤷‍♀️

Now, check out the ocean texture I used for the background 🌊✨. Isn’t it shiny and clear? Imagine wearing this swimming mask—people will definitely notice that PINK colour! 💖 You’ll stand out for sure! 🎀

🌟 Leave a positive comment below! 💬 And sorry again about the little error! 😅

Masks of Te Moana – SLJ #6

➤ I finally got my Chromebook back! 🎉 Now I’m trying to catch up on all the SLJ activities I missed last week. Exciting, right?! 🤩 Anyway, here’s the Kick Start activity I found while scrolling like mad. 😂 This one’s all about creating a sea-creature-inspired mask by hand! You can use pencil, coloured pencils, collage, or even paint. 🎨🖌️

I don’t have any colours, so I’m stuck with my trusty OG pencil ✏️. The most challenging part? Coming up with a sea creature that’s both extraordinary and original. That’s when it hit me! 💡🐙

I’ve watched and read a bit of Percy Jackson (though I wouldn’t call myself a hardcore fan). But what I do love is Epic: The Musical! 🎶 It’s my absolute fave because I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to Greek mythology. 🏺⚡ So, I used that inspiration to get creative with my hand-drawn mask.

Hope you enjoy reading my little fact and checking out some hashtags I thought would give this a more social media vibe. 💬✨ #StayCreative #SeaCreatureMask #GreekMythologyGeek :3

My Ocean Collectables – SLJ #5

Kia ora! Here’s the Kick Start activity, this one is about hand drawn collectable cards. If you don’t know what collectable cards are, they are usually just pictures and information about someone or something and is part of a set that is collected by trading with other people. For example, Pokemon cards!!

Anyways, I drew five characters based on ocean creatures like they instructed, each of them with one fact and their personality. It wasn’t too challenging because I’ve been drawing since I was six, and drawing “people” is my thing.

I also thought it would be nice if my collectable cards were in a Google Slide, but still have that template they shared. Please leave a positive comment and tell me which character you like or is more likely you!!

Hard Origami – SLJ #4

Kia ora! Here’s the Step it Up activity for the Origami Fish. I followed a much harder tutorial, and to be honest, it was very challenging for me.

One of the reasons it was tough was probably because I didn’t have a 150cm paper—I only had A4 paper at home. As I started folding, I noticed how difficult it was for me, especially when watching the man in the video fold the origami so effortlessly. Still, I kept going! My favourite part of this activity was not giving up on an unfinished project.

!FUN FACTS!

Did you know that you can fold not just dry paper, but wet paper too? The technique of “wet-folding” was invented by Akira Yoshizawa. 😱

Origami is also a big deal in Spain! In fact, paper folding in Europe dates back to at least the 12th century! 🇪🇸

My Own Wanted Poster – SLJ #2

Kia ora! Today is another Summer Learning Journey but Step it Up activity, the other one was just a Kick Start─as in a quick practice. Anyways, for the Step it Up activity, I get to make my own wanted poster with another dangerous sea creature.

In my poster, there’s a small picture of my dangerous sea creature─The Great White Shark─with two boxes that each has an explanation for WHY is it dangerous and SAFETY tips.

HEY HEY HEY!! Do you know anything about dangerous sea creatures? I know that Great White Sharks are dangerous because of their big, sharp teeth 🦈🪥

Origami Fishy McFish – SLJ #3

Kia ora! Today is another Kick Start activity which is all about making an ORIGAMI FISH. If you have no idea what origami is, it’s just a Japanese art of folding objects out of paper─for example, an origami swan.

For the origami fish, I firstly had to watch a quick and easy tutorial. It was challenging at first but I’ve actually enjoy one part in the activity and that is giving it a go.

Once my fish is finally done, I begin to draw an eye for him to see and a mouth for him to eat. Another thing is I name him… Fishy McFish. He’s a wise and firm blue captain of the bottom, so WATCH OUT!!!

!FUN FACT!

In the Middle Ages, samurai gave origami as gifts, symbolizing good luck❤🙏

Wanted Stonefish – SLJ #1

Kia ora! Today I have joined in the Summer Learning Journey, where I get to do fun learning activities over the Holidays. As you can see, my first activity is a Kick Start about creating a wanted poster for the Stonefish.

In my poster, you’ll be greeted by the huge and bold “WANTED” title above, a vintage paper background, a lot of research for safety tips and what to do when stung by a Stonefish, and lastly a HUGE no-colour picture of what a Stonefish looks like.

I wanted to create a poster-theme from a different time zone, approximately between the 90s. The reason why is because I wanted to try out different styles or time zone or even cultures for each of my activities-that would be MUCH more fun!

Anyways, would you make a poster from a different time zone? Have you ever encounter a Stonefish before (I haven’t because I have a phobia of the ocean)? Do you always feel insecure when swimming in the ocean?

Don’t be shy to leave a positive comment! 🎉

THREE FACTS ABOUT THE STONEFISH!:

1 – Stonefishes are consider to be one of the world’s DEADLIEST fish! 😱

2 – Did you know these stonefishes are extremely GREAT at camouflaging, what amazing hiders! 🤩

3 – They mostly spend their time just sitting motionless on the bottom of the seafloor, so keep an eye on the ground🧐

Kuaka T4 Wk 7: Response to Text Activity

Kia ora! Today for Literacy, my reading group (Kuaka) had to read a book called ‘Fever’ by Renata Hopkins. This book is about a young girl name “Carly” who happened to have a sore throat when going to camp, that’s when she meets a ghost girl that was one of the patients that must’ve died.

In slide 2 and 3, it’s the usual where I had to find synonym and the meaning for each word. Next in slide 4 and 5, had to answer the following questions from the text. I’ll be honest, I had to read the book for at least 15 times and my eyes are starting to get a bit blurry when I stayed up at 10:00 PM.

But besides from that, on the last slide is a personal response video as usual. Hope you enjoy listening to my video!

Kuaka T4 Wk 6: Response to Text Activity

Kia ora! Just finishing off Literacy work, but this task is about Tivaevae which is surprisingly a Cook Island book. On both slide 2 and 3 is finding a similar word and use it in a sentence. Then is a Google Form where I had to answer questions from the text. It wasn’t a bad score to be honest.

Next is slide 5 where I had to drag each picture below to correct the word from Tivaevae, and write why the picture matches the word in the row underneath. Slide 3 is a personal response video, I had to explain a common tradition that is part of my culture when there is a funeral. Hope you enjoy the information about my culture, Samoan.

Finally is writing a response to the following statement that reads; “It is important to remember our loved ones who have passed away”.

Anyways, please leave a positive comment and remember your love ones!
