Superhero Comic – Step it Up

Kia ora! Sorry for not posting any Summer Learning Activities as my chromebook had to be taken by Miss T.A for a check up or something? Anyways, here is my Step it Up Activity! As you can see… it’s a Superhero Comic. The blue watered-hair girl is Fafine Vasa, the enemy of my superhero (Fafine Afi). Firstly, how are they enemies? It all started…

In the far, far, island of Samoa. When Fafine Vasa and Fafine Afi were children, they even used to be friends. Yes, it’s very different when elements can mix together but they work it out. Fafine Vasa is always getting bully by Samoan kids while Fafine Afi is actually great at making friends with them! Soon enough, Fafine Vasa grew tired of getting bullied and being the main loser in this island. So she observed the whole Pacific Ocean to make ginormous waves. But as soon as she did that, Fafine Afi ran to her and shouting: “STOP! DO NOT DO SUCH A HORRIBLE THING TO THIS BEAUTIFUL ISLAND, VASA!!!”. Fafine Afi did her hardest to observed fire… from the sun?!! It’s a good thing she was able to do it. She blasted it against the ginormous waves and she did it.

But now, Fafine Vase is at it again. She hates Samoans (not being racist btw). These ladies now compete their unique elements.

  1. Kia orana Leata, Swaimah here. Oh My God! I love that you made it look like the game fire boy and water girl. The random island is a really cool island and i’ll actually visit it if it existed. The clothes you added onto the Fafine Vasa and Fafine Afi are very attracting.

    Questions

    Why’d you pick the names?
What made you inspire the theme?

    Thanks Swaimah <3

  2. Mōrena Leata,

This is such an awesome activity and what a great way to kick off the summer learning journey! I grew up reading a lot of comic books, especially ones about Batman and Robin, so I think superheroes are awesome and a special part of my childhood. I loved writing my own comics and designing my own superheroes so it is awesome to see everyone try their hand at designing a superhero (or villain).

I think your superheros look awesome and I love that their designs match their powers with one being red for hot and blue for cold. It is great to see you step it up by adding a bit of a backstory for your characters. That is a great way to add some depth and have your readers connect more with your design. Your writing is also beautifully done!

    Ngā mihi nui,
