Wk 7: Response to Text Activity

Kia ora! This task is from Week 7, but this week is Week 9. I’m just trying to finish all my tasks from different weeks. Anyways, this book is about an old Golden Retriever named “Diggity”.

If you looked at the slides, it’s the same as the others but there are some slides that tells me to described a ‘lunar landscape’ and what ‘anchored to the spot’ means as well.

Then I had to do this google draw task, and lastly. I had to record myself by retelling what the story was about!

Decimal Recap

Kia ora! This week me and my maths group have been learning how to use addition and subtraction strategies to solve decimal word problems.

As you can see, some of the slides have a fraction of tenths or hundredths. Even the decimal of it too.

On the last slide are some decimals where I had to add and subtract, I did my working on paper and I know how to do this easily!

Wk 6: Response to Text Activity

Kia ora! It’s Week 7 but this is my Week 6 work, because my group needed to finish this right away. As you can see, this book is about Loofahs and the boy is selling them.

On slide 2 and 3, they are about inserting images and founding the meaning of it as well. I know some of them.

Next on slide 4 and 5, I had to answer the following questions in the text which is the book my group are reading about.

Lastly is a video, if you haven’t heard! Everyone is gonna have to record themselves about what have learnt or something. I made my video on WeVideo because I wanted you to know what I am talking about, also any errors. Just tell me.

Subtracting Decimals 2

Subtracting Decimals

Subtract the decimals and whole numbers to answer the questions below. Remember to show your working you can do this by writing it in the document or inserting a photo.

Question

Working and answer

0.97 – 0.54= 0.43
0.47 – 0.13= 0.34
0.86 – 0.21= 0.65
0.64 – 0.23= 0.41
0.98 – 0.16= 0.82
0.86 – 0.41 = 0.45
2.63 – 1.31= 1.32
9.89 – 1.57= 8.32
9.49 – 3.16= 6.33
6.84 – 3.13= 3.71
10.62 – 4.31= 6.31
8.68 – 2.31= 6.37
16.73 – 7.72= 9.01
4.29 – 2.22= 2.07

In these questions you have to subtract from the whole.

Question

Working and answer

5.51 – 0.48 = 5.03
4.72 – 0.53 = 4.19
1.83 + 0.66 = 2.49
2.61 + 0.47 = 3.08
1.74 – 0.26 = 1.48

Kia ora! Here is my maths task about subtracting decimals (number two), as you can see. I had to answer all these decimals with my working in it, I hope you can see how I worked it out because my quality looks a bit bad towards me.

Also I do hope I got all the answers right, if not… I can edit it and work it out again.

Wk 5: Response to Text Activity

Kia ora! Today I have finally finish my reading task, which is a book called “Mahinga Kai Crusaders”. Also the tables have turned now, everyone will have to record themselves about the task they did. Just to show what they actually learn and how.

As you can see, it’s the same just like the others. Finding meanings of the word, getting an image, then answering questions about the book but at the last side… there’s an example of  Mahinga Kai and a video of course =)

Why is it Important To Be On Time?

Kia ora! This week I have done my Explanation Writing, my topic is about Why is it Important To Be on Time? As you can see, there is 3 key elements to each statement I am talking about. If you see some words that are BOLD, those are my main key point to the statement.

For my conclusion, I know how to do as I have done it before with my Speech. It’s all about gathering all the key points I did with my writing, easy as a piece of cake! My Explanation Writing has been checked by my Literacy teacher named “Mrs Lagitupu”. So I hoped I fixed any errors in my piece of writing.

2. Measuring Liquid Volume: Millilitres and Litres

Kia ora! Here’s a second measurement task for maths, as you can see it’s about two metric units: “Millilitres and litres”. This is just like the first maths task but it’s about millilitres and litres.

As I go through to slide 4 – 5, I had to drag which item would be measured using millilitres. Super easy as millilitres are about 20 drops of water!

Next would be sorting some objects into the correct unit, then shading the best unit of these measurements. After that, it would be estimating capacity and match the container with the best estimate too.

Last but not least, is a volume scavenger hunt which basically means look for some random objects that are measured for millilitres and litres. But Mr. Moran (my teacher) said that we can also look around the classroom as well. If there’s any errors in the Google Slides. Just comment.

Kuaka Wk 3: Response to Text Activity

Kia ora! And here is another task about the Treaty of Waitangi, but a response to text activity. As you can see, this is about reading this text called “Te Tiriti O Waitangi” which translate into “Waitangi Street”. This Google Slides is quite short, by the way.

First slide is about founding an image that shows each key vocabulary word from the text! If you go through the slides, you will see the words and the meanings I put in.

When I finished slide two and three, the others are questions. To get the answer, I must answer the following questions from the text. Which basically means skim and scan for the keywords in the text. Also, me and my group (Kuaka) must understand what the story is about. Then this task would be easier for us!

1. Measuring Length: Centimetres & Metres

Kia ora! Today I did my very first maths work. This is all about measuring length, like millimetres, centimetres, metres, and kilometres.

Firstly, we had to drag some pictures to which item that would be measured by. I think each slide with different pictures were easy, but this is only 1 out of 2 more works left.

Secondly, it’s just like the first one but we had to drag a lot of pictures to centimetres or metres. The pictures are quite easy as well. So I think my maths group would get this correct.

Next, I had to determine the best unit of measurement by dragging the rectangle box to highlight the correct unit! Again, easy as usual.

Lastly, I to determine the best estimate. Just by guessing how long the thing is! And as I moved to the next slide, I now need to find the length to the nearest centimetre of the object!
