Make it Work Diary – Week 1

This week we are learning about “Make it Work” which is the main focus for inquiry, every person has a Make it Work Diary where we have to write what we have contributed towards that week’s achievements, note any problems that you or your group are experiencing and what we learnt this week. Anyways, here is my mine! Hope you like reading about what I wrote about.

 

Term 4 Literacy Goals

My Term 4 Literacy Goals for the next six weeks.

Reading
To get to the next level I need to:

1. I want to get better at sounding out new words I get stuck on,  by learning phonics. 

2. I need to skim and scan more often when reading. 

3. I need to get better at inference when reading between the lines.

I can help myself by:

I can help myself by reading online books or articles at home on my chromebook.  

I can help myself by playing an audio about a story at home.

Writing
To get to the next level I need to:

1. I want to correct my spelling when writing on my device or book. 

2. I need to always make sure I write capital letters and punctuation when writing. 

3. I need to always double check my writing before punishing it.

I can help myself by:

I can help myself by always writing a creative story every Saturday at home! And then getting feedback.

I can help myself by practising my spelling at home.   

This week my literacy class were writing their goals for Term 4. Our goals are all about our reading and writing. So here is my goals for reading and writing, but my main goal is to get better at my spelling because I am about to turn into a Year 8 next year!

Explanation Writing Recap


This week I have finished off one of my work from last Term, this is my writing task. We are learning to developing the ability to effectively explain concepts, ensuring clarity and coherence in written explanations! I picked one of the videos in slide 3, “How exercise affects the brain”. Then I wrote my 3 elements about it! 

Conjunctions


This week we are learning about conjunctions, we had learnt different types of conjunctions in this task. There is 3 different types of conjunctions, the names are: “Coordinating conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions and correlative conjunctions”. These 3 types are very interesting and I didn’t even know that there was different types of conjunctions! how about you? did you know that there was different types of  conjunctions?

Sentences 2


This week we did sentences again! the pictures were a big blue monster and a door. In the 2nd slide, we had to correct the sentences again by adding the proper punctuation and capital letters in the sentences. Next in the 3rd slide, there was a picture of a big blue monster. We had to write three sentences about the picture of the big blue monster. Then in the 4th slide, there was a picture of a door open. We had to write three sentences that describes what we see as you went though the door, mine is pretty funny and crazy!

Sentences


This week we writing sentences that matches the picture! in the 2nd slide, we had to correct the sentences by adding a proper punctuation and capital letters in the sentences. Next in the 3rd slide, there was a picture of a boy running. We had to write three sentences about the boy running. Then in the 4th slide, there is was a picture of a child peeking though of the fence. So, we had to write three sentences about a child peeking though the fence!
