Kuaka T4 Wk 1: Response to Text Activity

Kia ora! Just finishing off Literacy work, but this task is about First Haircut which is a Niuean ceremony for boys. You’ll come across some similar and opposite words that was in the book. Then a Google Form that I answered but I’m no expert about Niue.

Slide 5 is vocabulary, just dragging pictures to the correct word and writing down why the picture matches the word. Next slide would be a personal response video where I had to record myself about a common tradition that is part of my culture, Samoa.

Lastly is Slide 7 which is just writing a response to the following statement; “It is important to preserve and protect cultural traditions”. Remember, this is my opinion! 🙂

5 Facts about Sound

Kia ora! Here’s another 5 facts task, but this time about sound. My literacy class had to read an article about sound, and write it down. So, if you ever want to learn more facts then read this for more information.

I found this quite challenging because there was a lot of information about sound, so I had to skim and scan a bit which was really helpful. Anyways, enjoy reading my 5 facts that I know about sound from that article.

Problem Solving lV2

Fakaalofa Lahi Atu! This week for maths is learning how to solve word problems, we all know that word problems can be hard but it’s trying to confuse you. In slide one, you can see how I read the problem carefully and closely. That’s because I’m only looking for the keywords in this problem.
For example, Mr Wiseman spends $6 a day which means: One day = $6. Now for 7 days, we just need to multiply 7 to 6 because he spends $6 for a V drink.

Anyways, this task only has four slides and I hope you understand my solution to each word problem. Also, if you have a different way to solve it then feel free to leave a comment!

🎉Happy Niuean Language Week!🎉

Kuaka T3 Wk 10: Response to Text Activity

Kia ora! This week is actually the last week for Term 3, I haven’t been blogging so much because of my High School and family stuff as well. But for now, let me just say that this task is about a boy and his friend being picked as School Captains but his friend is not a great role model to the school.

Anyways, I hope to finish off some more Reading or Writing or Maths here in my blog. Don’t forget to leave a positive comment!

Famous Failures – Mana Ako

Kia ora! This week at Mana Ako, we learnt about famous failures we know. Firstly, I wanted to acknowledge Sir Edmund Hillary (NZ $5 note) for being the first person to climb Mount Everest!

For some reason, he wasn’t able to climb the sixth highest mountain (Cho Oyu) in the world but was able to climb Mount Everest?! That mountain is very tall compare to Cho Oyu, yet Sir Edmund Hillary can climb it? Though, I think he just wanted to prove everyone that we all shouldn’t be giving up so easily.

Which is way I won’t give up easily as well when I’m doing my work🤣

Kuaka Wk 8: Response to Text Activity (Matariki)

Kia ora! Today me and my literacy class are learning about Matariki now, as you can see you’ll be greeted with some meanings and questions at the last slide. I think I learnt that many other parts of the world have their similarities to Matariki, that’s kinda shocking right?

But what did I find challenging in this task? Well it’s learning new Maori words, I needed to find the meaning from a Maori Dictionary!? So next time, I’ll try to learn some Maori words either from my friends or teachers!

Kuaka T2Wk 1: Response to Text Activity

Kia ora! Today I was doing some F.I.O.P, while at home because why not? Anyways this task is from Term 2 Week 1, I wanted to finish it for a while but I forget about it. Tho this book was a good play for me and my reading group, you see everyone in my literacy had to do a play about the book they are reading! Yes it was very hard indeed.

Wk 7: Response to Text Activity

Kia ora! This task is from Week 7, but this week is Week 9. I’m just trying to finish all my tasks from different weeks. Anyways, this book is about an old Golden Retriever named “Diggity”.

If you looked at the slides, it’s the same as the others but there are some slides that tells me to described a ‘lunar landscape’ and what ‘anchored to the spot’ means as well.

Then I had to do this google draw task, and lastly. I had to record myself by retelling what the story was about!

Please leave a positive comment ^^

Wk 6: Response to Text Activity

Kia ora! It’s Week 7 but this is my Week 6 work, because my group needed to finish this right away. As you can see, this book is about Loofahs and the boy is selling them.

On slide 2 and 3, they are about inserting images and founding the meaning of it as well. I know some of them.

Next on slide 4 and 5, I had to answer the following questions in the text which is the book my group are reading about.

Lastly is a video, if you haven’t heard! Everyone is gonna have to record themselves about what have learnt or something. I made my video on WeVideo because I wanted you to know what I am talking about, also any errors. Just tell me.

Wk 5: Response to Text Activity

Kia ora! Today I have finally finish my reading task, which is a book called “Mahinga Kai Crusaders”. Also the tables have turned now, everyone will have to record themselves about the task they did. Just to show what they actually learn and how.

As you can see, it’s the same just like the others. Finding meanings of the word, getting an image, then answering questions about the book but at the last side… there’s an example of  Mahinga Kai and a video of course =)
